Hi, I’m Bernhard! Growing up in southern Germany, I discovered a love for photography and videography in my twenties. While I pursued a successful career in banking, I studied, amongst other prestigious banking schools, at the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. I can call myself a Banking Economist with more than 10 years of work experience. Rather later than sooner, I heard the calling to trade tailored suits for cameras and lenses, spreadsheets for visual storytelling, content design and social media management.
My creative space is the intersection of photography, videography, content design and copywriting. I combine these skills to create impactful content that resonates with audiences and strongly relies on portrait and lifestyle photography. As a photographer and videographer, I believe in the power of visuals to capture emotions and tell compelling stories. Every piece of work is crafted to deliver an immersive and sensory experience to the viewer.
The tools we use as creators shape the stories we tell. While the power of visuals lies at the heart of everything I do, the specific tools I choose further enhance the narrative. The unique character of vintage lenses is therefore tied very closely to how I create unique-looking stills and motion pictures. I rely on a collection of carefully chosen vintage lenses. A few that particularly inspire me are the Japanese classics, like the Super Takumar 50mm f 1.4 with its heritage 8 Elements design, the Soviet Union made Mir 24m 35mm f 2.0 with its beautiful video capabilities and the USSR made portrait photography legend Jupiter 9 85mm f 2.0.
This dedication to visual storytelling extends beyond the technical aspects. I draw inspiration from legendary filmmakers like Stanley Kubrick, who believed ‘a film should be a progression of moods and feelings.’ This resonates deeply with my approach, where every visual element contributes to the emotional journey of the audience. Quentin Tarantino’s signature way of cinematic storytelling, particularly through dialogue, genre-bending elements and non-linear story telling, also fuels my creative fire. My portrait photography, on the other hand, is rather inspired by my own visions of the perfect story told in one frame.
